Kangaroo Island is seven times larger than Singapore and home to a huge array of native wildlife. More than one third of Kangaroo Island is a National or Conservation Park with much of the island as it was when first discovered back in 1802. Whatever time of year you decide to visit you will be greeted by friendly locals, breathtaking scenery and beaches and an abundance of local animal life from Koalas relaxing in trees to Seals basking on the beaches.

During your trip to Kangaroo Island you will certainly not be short of things to do and see. Flinders Chase National Park is the home of the Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch - both well work a look along with numerous walking trails. Seal Bay Conservation Park is one of the only places where you can walk amongst one of the largest colonies of Australian Sea Lions. Nocturnal animal tours under clear bright skies where you can view a Little Penguin Colony along with Tammar Wallabies, Brush-tailed Possums and Kangaroo Island Kangaroos.

The village of American River is a favourite fishing and sailing spot with an excellent boat ramp, barbecue and picnic facilities, fishing charters and boat hire. This narrow tidal channel of American River forms the Island's most protected harbour and the Kangaroo Island oyster industry is based here, with Oysters available seasonally.

The village is located on the hillside surrounded by native bush land, offering magnificent views and an abundance of wildlife. Organised nocturnal tours are available where you may spot some of the native life including Tammar Wallabies and Brush-tailed Possums and incorporating Little Penguins at Penneshaw.
