The house is close to a general store which sells food, alcohol, hardware and fuel and is situated a short distance from Kangaroo Island ferry facilities making it the ideal place to relax whilst enjoying everything that Kangaroo Island has to offer.

Views of American River

This narrow tidal channel of American River forms the Island's most protected harbour and the Kangaroo Island oyster industry is based here, with Oysters available seasonally.

The village is located on the hillside surrounded by native bush land, offering magnificent views and an abundance of wildlife. Organised nocturnal tours are available where you may spot some of the native life including Tammar Wallabies and Brush-tailed Possums and incorporating Little Penguins at Penneshaw.

The village of American River is a favourite fishing and sailing spot with an excellent boat ramp, barbecue and picnic facilities, fishing charters and boat hire.
